What we believe

What Is Our Purpose

The purpose of Jamaica Bobsleigh and Skeleton is to be a beacon to mankind illuminating the power of the human spirit and the potential of each human being, regardless of where life places them.

What We Believe

We believe in unbounded potential of each human being regardless of where that person comes from, their field of endeavor, or the circumstances in which they find themselves. We believe in the power of inspiration and encouragement and its ability to help others overcome obstacles of whatever nature. We believe we have been called, through the example of our own achievement, to encourage and support others indirectly through interaction, and provide opportunities directly through sports for persons to rise above their circumstances and fulfill their purpose in life.

Why We Do What We Do

We Provide a structure and opportunities for Jamaican male and female athletes to participate in the sport of bobsleigh at both a development and elite level, with the clear goal of producing World and Olympic Champions in the sports of bobsleigh and skeleton. In the process, we seek to equip these athletes with the skills and attitudes necessary to succeed in life. We set an example and share our story to demonstrate the best of the human spirit in achieving extraordinary performance, and to help others in their own journey.

How We Do What We Do

Opportunity:

We provide opportunity to young men and women from Jamaica, especially those whom would not have access to a similar opportunity, to compete at the highest level internationally in sport, while developing themselves

Service:

The JBSF is a service organization which relies on the commitment of a core group of volunteers to reach out and help others in a meaningful way by contributing their time, skills and experience

Can do:

The JBSF engenders throughout its programs the belief and culture of being bold in setting goals and dogged in pursuing them. A culture where results speak for themselves and excuses have no place; where we succeed in spite of and not because of, where in order to reach those goals, we must stretch and transform ourselves, and make better versions of ourselves. Our athletes should leave our program with this attitude and those who come into contact with us should be infected with it.

Work Ethic:

Talent and environment may be the great dividers, but belief and work are the great equalizers. We accept and understand, that where we start from and where we aim to go requires that we practice exceptional routines, discipline, self-denial and focus every day. We embrace the work that needs to be done and commit ourselves fully to it.

Team Work:

Respect, encourage and support each other. Make each other better.
